I love these beautiful journals by Laughing Elephant, from Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1969, this third-generation family business uses vintage illustrations as designs for greeting cards and paper goods. They aim to share the superb designs of the golden age of illustration in products that convey care, kindness, and love.

The design of this vintage notebook is taken from the cover of FAIRY TALES FROM THE ARABIAN NIGHTS, illustrated by John D. Batten -- the illustrator of a number of the famous COLORED FAIRY BOOKS. He was a superb designer as well as an artist, and the design on this cover is probably his. This book was published in 1893 by J.M. Dent & Co., London.
