Chuckles candy was invented in 1921 by Fred W. Amend to create a jelly candy that wouldn't sweat or stick by coating it with a sugar crust. His wife suggested the name Chuckles to signify the joy of eating them. The brand has passed through several ownerships, including Nabisco and Hershey, and is currently owned by Iconic IP Interests, LLC and manufactured by Ferrara Candy Company
