Vintage Style Candy Turkish Taffy (3 Bars)
Turkish Taffy originated in 1912 with Herman Herer, an Austrian immigrant who accidentally created a "short nougat" rather than a true taffy. The rights were later sold to the Bonomo family in 1936, who popularized the candy in Coney Island and on Woolworth's counters, selling it as large sheets that were broken with a hammer. In the late 1940s, Bonomo introduced the candy bar format, enabling consumers to break it by hitting it against a hard surface. The candy was eventually sold to Tootsie Roll Industries but was discontinued before a fan-led effort brought it back in 2010 under its original Bonomo name and formula.
